Csonka Éva

PhD Student - University of Debrecen, Doctoral School of Human Sciences, Doctoral Program in Education 

I graduated as a secondary school teacher majoring in Hungarian history at the University of Debrecen, in 2009, and in 2015 I obtained a professional examination for public education management. I am currently still working as a secondary school teacher, and from the academic year of 2021, I am a doctoral student at the Institute of Education and Cultural Studies of the University of Debrecen. My research area is the investigation of the influence of secondary school teachers on the motivations of graduate students related to the teaching career, as well as on career choice. Examining both church and secular secondary schools, focusing mainly on the North-Eastern Hungarian region.

 

Dorogi Alexandra

PhD Candidate - University of Debrecen, Doctoral School of Human Sciences, Doctoral Program in Education 

My BA degree is in economics (tourism-hospitality), which I obtained at the University of Debrecen in 2017, and I received my MA in economics (hospitality-tourism) at the Budapest University of Economics in 2019. During my studies, I won a TDK special award in 2018, and in 2020 I applied to the Doctoral School of Human Sciences of the University of Debrecen. I am currently a full-time teacher of vocational subjects at the Kállay Rudolf Vocational Training School in Mátészalka. Vocational training schools are at the center of my research, I examine the recruitment of students based on the results of the National Competence Measurement.

 

Fazekas Elek

PhD Student - University of Debrecen, Doctoral School of Human Sciences, Doctoral Program in Education 

I am currently a doctoral student in the Doctoral Programme in Education at the Doctoral School of Humanities, researching patterns of school-school contact. I have a degree in social work and sociology. In addition to my doctoral studies, I work as a lecturer at the Károli Gáspár Reformed University.

Gál Enikő

PhD Candidate - University of Debrecen, Doctoral School of Human Sciences, Doctoral Program in Education 

In 2017, I graduated from the Nyíregyháza University as a teacher of vocal music and history. Since September 2018, I have been working at the Biharkeresztes Primary School, where I teach both my majors and am also a class teacher. In 2019, I was admitted to the Education Program of the Doctoral School of Human Sciences of the University of Debrecen, and I am currently a third-year PhD student. The focus of my research is the appearance of horizontal gender segregation in elementary schools, as well as the effects of the hidden curriculum and the projection of gender differences on education.

 

Gintner Tamásné Dr. Hornyák Ágnes

I graduated from the University of Debrecen in 2004, majoring in Hungarian language and literature pedagogy. I work as a practicing teacher, work community leader, and student mentor in secondary school. In advanced and intermediate-level baccalaureate exams, I perform examiner and chairman duties for both my majors. I carry out teaching and examining activities in adult education. As of 2018, I am a student at the Doctoral School of Human Sciences. My research area is the investigation of educational innovations, within which my interest is focused on monitoring their mid-term effectiveness by analyzing OKM databases and exploratory interviews among the teachers who registered the innovations. On this topic, I have published and appeared at conferences. At the moment, I teach teacher candidates in teacher training and BA and MA students in pedagogy at the University of Debrecen.

 

Juhos Ágnes

PhD Student- University of Debrecen, Doctoral School of Human Sciences, Doctoral Program in Education 

I graduated from the University of Debrecen in 2008 with a degree in History and Geography. In 2023, I graduated from the Faculty of Pedagogy and Special Education at the University of Debrecen with a degree in specialization in special education for learning disabled. I am currently working as a primary school teacher. From the academic year 2023/2024, I am a student of the Doctoral Programme in Education at the Doctoral School of Humanities, University of Debrecen. My supervisor is Dr. Roland Hegedűs. My research topic is the comparison of teaching environmental science and natural science to the learning disabled and the majority of students.

 

Kerékgyártó Zsolt

PhD hallgató - Debreceni Egyetem, Humán Tudományok Doktori Iskola, Neveléstudományi Doktori Program 

I am Zsolt Kerékgyártó, a PhD student at the University of Debrecen, Faculty of Humanities, Doctoral School of Human Sciences, PhD Programme in Education, and a new member of the CHERD research group. I started my studies in 2009 with a BA in English Studies and later, in 2020, I continued with an MA in English Studies. In the meantime, I also obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Administration from the National University of Public Service, with a correspondence course. My current research area is on undergraduate students in public service, but I have also published work on security policy. I am also interested in management strategies in higher education institutions. 

 

Kocsis Nóra

Neveléstudomány mester szakos hallgató - Debreceni Egyetem, Neveléstudományi Tanszék

I graduated from the University of Debrecen with a bachelor's degree in special education and currently work as a special education teacher. In 2022, I applied to the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Debrecen for an MA in Education. During my studies, I was awarded the ÚNKP scholarship, whose research topic focuses on the relationship between foster parents and school. I presented my research results at the Faculty TDK round, where I was awarded first place.

 

Lánczi Viktória

PhD hallgató - Debreceni Egyetem, Humán Tudományok Doktori Iskola, Neveléstudományi Doktori Program 

I am a PhD student at the University of Debrecen, and I also work as a lecturer at the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College. As a Hungarian expatriate, my research focuses on the professional socialization and professional image of minority students in higher education, and the agents influencing them.

 

Markovics Katalin

I am currently working as an English-German teacher in a secondary school in Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county. I received my diplomas, as well as my diplomas in Public Education Leadership and Teacher Education from the University of Debrecen. In autumn 2023 I started my studies in the doctoral programme in Education and Educational Sciences at the Doctoral School of Human Sciences of the University of Debrecen. Since the beginning of my doctoral studies I have been a member of the CHERD research group. My thesis supervisor is Dr. Habil. Veronika Bocsi. My research focuses on the recruitment and motivation towards the target language of students in bilingual secondary schools in Hungary.

 

Dr. Polgáriné Szilágyi Edit

PhD Student - University of Debrecen, Doctoral School of Human Sciences, Doctoral Program in Education 

She graduated from the University of Miskolc as a German language teacher, as well as a translator of economic and social sciences, after which he obtained a diploma in English language teaching at the University of Debrecen. In 2020, he applied to the Doctoral School of Human Sciences of the University of Debrecen. He is a full-time teacher of English language, motion picture culture, and media knowledge at KOSZISZ Szent István High School in Újfehértó. The focus of his research is the development of foreign language text comprehension, the types of text types used during language transfer, including the method of using literary texts. In his research, he also examines the influence of the student's social background and the type of educational institution on the development of foreign language comprehension.

 

Sütő Éva

PhD Student - University of Debrecen, Doctoral School of Human Sciences, Doctoral Program in Education 

I am Éva Sütő, a PhD student of the Faculty of Humanities, Doctoral School of Human Sciences, University of Debrecen. I graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Natural Sciences of the National University of Uzhhorod in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Hungarian Language and Literature, and in 2012 I completed my master's degree in the same field. I worked for 2 years at the Élim Day Care Centre, where I was involved in activities to help children with special needs integrate into society, and then I was a teacher at the Hetyeni Primary School for 8 years. In 2023, I graduated from the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian College with a Master's degree in teaching. After graduation, I was admitted to the doctoral program, where I was a member of the CHERD research group. I was fascinated by research on the potential of alternative teaching methods, so my research topic is the impact of using LEGO Duplo in STEM education.
